Boulder City, NV (Las Vegas)

We, regretfully, left Page earlier than we had hoped but the weather was/has been much cooler than we had planned for.  So we are back near family and friends for the next month!  I still have some catching up to do however.....a few days worth!  So here goes!

These pics are from Tuesday the 9th, Part 1.  We drove out to Lees Ferry after it had rained all day on Monday and it had snowed up on the plateaus.  It was beautiful but the roads were icy.  We saw 2 cars overturned by the side of the road!  Lees Ferry is on the Colorado River so when we descended, we left the snow behind and it was a beautiful hiking day!

We spent the first part of the day checking out the Lonely Dell Ranch and hiking up the canyon behind it.  Thats what these pictures are.  Tomorrow I will have pics of the Lees Ferry area.

These 4 pics taken from jeep along highway....too cold to get out!

Page, Quad Trip

Regretfully, we will be leaving Page tomorrow as it has been colder than expected for this time of year.  We will have to return because we did not get to do several things we wanted to do!

However, we have done a fair amount in the week we have been here.  Enough that I must go back a few days to show pics from a quad trip we went on up on the plateau behind Paul's house.  (Paul is friend and ex-family;) and lives in Big Water just inside Utah).  It was fun albeit a bit brisk!

heading out.....

Nice views of Lake Powell

Page, Dam Tour

Monday it rained.....all day. So we took a tour of the dam!  And yes, it is interesting enough to be different from the Hoover Dam tour.  I like the dam tours anyway, very cool!

Page, Balloon Regatta!

When we arrived in Page there were banners around town announcing a balloon regatta for the weekend and I was excited about the possibilities for pictures.  Then the wind started.  Half the launchings were cancelled.  But Sunday morning some 60 balloons made it off the ground all around Page and it was beautiful!  Note the scenery in some of the pics. They launched from all over town and it was quite the sight. Enjoy!

yes, that's Mike in the jeep while I'm out in the cold taking pics;)

Spam Museum, Austin, Minnesota

We were staying just a few miles away in Blooming Prairie and, of course, were going into Austin to a couple of breweries....how could we no...
