Hagerman ID, Hagerman horse, art fest

Thousand Springs State Park held an annual art fest this weekend so we went back to check it out.  On the way, we stopped in Hagerman to look around a small museum in the park headquarters.

The Hagerman horse was found in the fossil beds nearby, the ones we went to and hiked the Oregon Trail.  It was one of many animal fossils found in the area but got the name Hagerman because it is the only area these types of horse fossils are found.  Actually, it is not a horse but more closely related to the zebra so we learned.

We also learned about the Minidoka Internement Camp, the ruins of which are close to Twin Falls.  Not much to see there but the story of how we locked up all our Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor was bombed should never be forgotten.

Then it was off to a pleasant afternoon at the art fest.  One could not ask for a better setting!

the baby really wanted to get her hands on the python this man is holding!
