Apache Junction, Piestewa Peak

Piestewa Peak is the highest trail in Phoenix and I do mean in Phoenix!  It is located in a park that is close to the heart of the city.  The Summit Trail covers an elevation of 1200 in 1.2miles.  Thats pretty steep, kinda like a giant stair stepper.  We had to do it because it's a main attraction for hikers in the area.  Your reward at the top is a pretty good 360 of the area. This trail always has lots of people on it no matter what time of the week!

the peak just does not look that imposing from here

better get some water anyway

look for people and the trail in these pics

bit of a scramble in this area

mirrored glass on buildings below reflecting the trees

here is a much better perspective of the steepness of this trail don't you think?

panoramas from the top

time to head down
