The Paint Mines, Calhan, CO

About 20 miles NE of where we are here in Falcon ( a burb of Colo Spgs) there is a wonderful colorful park called the Paint Mines. This is where Indians did, many years ago, come to gather pigment to make paint for coloring pots.

We went with Evelyn and 2 of her grandchildren and had a wonderful little hike through the area!

Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs, CO

It was kind of fun doing a hike at the base of one of the most famous mountains in the world, Cheyenne Mountain, home of NORAD.  The wildflowers are beautiful and prolific right now.  Nice trail starting off taking us through  Gambel Oak and winding it's way up and through some Ponderosa Pine. Oh and did I mention wildflowers;)

We did 6 1/2 miles of the 20 miles of trails

isn't this a beauty!

After our hike we headed to the Bristol Brewery located inside an old school for a brew:
