Boulder City, Zip Lining??

My brother, Paul, was in town for Thanksgiving and we went for a walk up behind the motorhome in the hills.  This is perfect hiking weather for the desert. Clear, sunny, cool and a bit breezy.

So you will see yet another pic of the lake because it is a nicer picture and you will see another arch because I saw it and it is so close to us! ......

.....And you will see some people zip lining.  We have a zip line operation behind us here.  People pay to put on a harness and get hooked up to a wire to slide down the mountainside from hilltop to hilltop.  OK, I would like to do it too but it is expensive, of course.  Anyway, we saw a person zipping by and then stop short of the last platform.  They piled up and then a guy came out, hooked them up and pulled them in.  It was entertaining!

lots of pretty colored rock around here too!

arch is on right and interesting structure on left

Boulder City, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We sure hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Mike and I have so much to be thankful for and never forget how fortunate we are to

Yesterday I went for a walk in the hills behind our motorhome park and took these.  I was in awe that the humming bird seemed to pose for me and let me take several pics.  Yes, they are all of the same bird!  I did not see the scarlet in his face until he turned toward me and the sun hit his face.

Boulder City, XMas Shopping with the Parrotheads

Yes, we have slowed down considerably with outdoor activities as we are catching up with visits with friends and family.

We are also Parrotheads with the Las Vegas chapter and jumped right in with helping out buying gifts for foster children for Christmas at a local Walmart.  We are a charitable organization whose motto is "Party with a Purpose". We do this every year with money made at Last Man Standing.  Last Man Standing is a concert/party event held every year right around the time Jimmy Buffett is in town doing his concert/s in the fall.  This year the club raised $12,000!  Most of this money goes to buying gifts for foster children and children of Nellis AFB military.

Here are some pics from the "shopping spree"!

Assigning "Santas" shopping lists.

OK, we're done. Now I have to go home and wrap all this!

Yep, thats a lot of toys and clothes!

Till next year!

Boulder City, Burro Wash 4x4 trail/hike

We checked out a 4x4 trail just outside of here (Boulder City).  The trail took us down to the Colorado River but the last mile was a bit hairy so we walked it out which worked out fine cause we got a couple mile hike in as well.

Another perfect day for being outside.  Bonus, as you can see, we saw a big horn sheep on the way out.  On the way back, we saw a herd of big horn run across the ridge but I was not able to get a good shot.

Look, an arch!  We have them in Nevada too!

Arriving at the river

Scaring the water fowl away!

Lots of beautiful barrel cactus around.

Boulder City, Toadstool Hike in Page

OK, these are the last pics from Page. And, yes, I do have some pics from here (near Boulder City) for the next blog.

This hike was a short one and we did it the afternoon of the Birthday Arch hike.  It was like being on a different planet as you can see.  I had been there before but it was still amazing to me!  Enjoy the Toadstools!!!!

Spam Museum, Austin, Minnesota

We were staying just a few miles away in Blooming Prairie and, of course, were going into Austin to a couple of breweries....how could we no...
