Woodland WA, The Chase

Caught this great sequence when I went to check on Norm and Norma and the chicks.  Look how big the chicks are now!  The chicks were alone when I got to the nest and I waited hoping for the parents to return with fish.  Then I saw big birds racings across the river and realized it was a couple of young eagles chasing an osprey with a fish!

The chase was crazy with some wild maneuvers, and the other osprey joined in finally chasing the eagles off.  What was amazing to me was the osprey never let go of the fish even though he helped chase the eagles away!  They did turn out to be Norm and Norma and they returned to the nest but Norm did not share the fish this time.

the young ones are moving around while parents are gone....
