Caballo State Park

Elephant Butte Dam is just one in a string of dams on the Rio Grande. On this day we drove south a bit to check out Caballo Dam, Percha Dam, and Caballo State Park.  The dams are not impressive and the amount of water flowing through right now is pitiful but we did see some wildlife and the agriculture in the area is interesting!

chilies, chilies, and more chilies...

we drove by these chilies drying in the sun on the way to Caballo State Park

as I said, just a trickle of water...

flocks of sandhill cranes...must be on their way to Bosque Del Apache NWR!
