Dr. Kate and Lumberjack Show, Minocqua, WI

Just a couple of miles down the road is the town of Minocqua.  The Dr. Kate Museum is well worth a visit if you make it to this part of the north woods;)  Dr. Kate was an amazing woman who lived in the area in the 50s and 60s and was the only doctor around for 100 miles.  She trudged through the snow in snowshoes many times to help patients and helped deliver about 3500 babies in her 20 years when she then died after slipping and severely breaking a hip...in the snow.

She inspired the Million Penny March which raised money for the first hospital in the area. She is a great inspiration and well worth looking up on line.

We went to a lumberjack show and it was great fun!

at halftime the lumberjacks helped children learn a new trade;)
and eagles flew over head during intermission!

Another Paul Bunyon and Babe statue!
