Back in the Canyons of the Ancients

Our last hike in the Cortez area was back in the Canyons of the Ancients.  We had such a great hike in Sand Canyon that we wanted to explore Rock Canyon and East Rock Canyon which we had seen part of on our return trip in Sand Canyon.  Another fab day as you can see.  Rock Canyon was lovely but we saw no traces of ruins there so we moved on to East Rock Canyon where we saw a couple more ruins and this awesome arch!!  Yes, there are 7 pics of the arch as I thought I had to put that many on to do it justice;)

This post will bring me up to date;)  Let's see what we can find in Gallup, NM!!

see the large ruins on the left.....look to upper right of shelf for a wall of another small ruin

in lower left foreground see remains of tower, then behind in the alcove

the tower remains  in the prev pic are  next to the phallic looking rock in the mid of this pic and then you cans still see a bit of the alcove ruins behind in the distance

little diff angle

pretty good view of the canyon

Checked out a Cortez brewery for happy hour;)
