Las Vegas NV, More Great Basin NP

Yes, we drove in to Vegas this afternoon. A long but uneventful 300 miles from Baker.  We will be here 12 days taking care of business and meeting up with friends and relatives.  It was high 80's today and we are not used to heat!

I have more Great Basin NP for you all because we saw a lot and I must share!  Todays pics are of the Alpine Loop trl.  Got a few nice pics of Wheeler Peak.  Important because it is the 2nd highest peak in NV at just over 13,000 ft.  Boundry Peak is the highest at 13,600.  Anyway, we were hiking at over 10,000ft and Wheeler still looked very impressive!

Monument to Stephen Mather who laid the foundation for the national park system

This is Mather point with a good view of Wheeler Peak....

Wheeler Peak is the more pointy peak on the right side of this view.  Jeff Davis Peak is on the left.
