Lake Minatare is about 15 miles from here (Gering, NE). It's claim to fame is a lighthouse. No, I'm not kidding, a lake in the middle of the prairie with a lighthouse. It is a big lake with a swimming beach, plenty of fishing, camping, but not really in need of a lighthouse. Well the lighthouse does not have a light anyway. It was build by the Veterans Conservation Corp in 1937 to provide a few jobs during the depression and was intended as an observation tower.
No luck with wild animals today, was hoping to see something. The ranger said the lake has golden eagles but I guess not this time of year. Had a nice time as usual though, gorgeous weather!
Well we've had a great time here in the Gering/Scottsbluff, NE area but it is time to move on. Tomorrow morning we leave for Rollings, WY. We will be just a night there. I believe we will have wifi.
A picture journal of our (Keyna and Mikes') adventures in Paradise (our motorhome) as we travel the USA.
