Howe Lake Trail

Today we did a short hike, 4 miles round trip, to Howe Lake in Glacier NP.  This is in a burn area from   a fire about 10 years ago.  Interesting to see how the forest comes back in spite of the devastation of the fire.  The "new" forest was growing in quite nicely and the wildflowers were prolific.  Not much in the way of wildlife though we did have a good photo session with a woodpecker:

Note the beaver lodge on the left edge of the lake

Could hardly see the sun for the smoke in the air

We were tempted to stop at the Jam and Pie Factory on the way back for a 100 ft. burger!!
