Our Last Day in Yellowstone!

After 2 amazing weeks in this beautiful park we must move on.  We saw a lot of the park but not all by far!  There is plenty left for us to check out some time in the future should we make it out this way again. The park is over 2.2 million acres! We put 1000 miles on the Jeep while here!  I took thousands of pictures!  Staying in West Yellowstone allowed us to go north or south when in the park and that seemed to work out well.

Tomorrow we head south just a little to spend a few days in another beautiful place, Grand Teton NP.  We will be dry camping and will not have internet unless we can find a hot spot so our last day in Yellowstone may have to tide everyone over for a few days;)

Today we hiked from Midway Geyser Basin to Old Faithful Geyser Basin and back.  We revisited a few geysers we had already seen and saw a few along the way that people rarely see.  Got some other interesting pics as well:

This morning we saw bison in the mist......

 And pretty birds......

 And caterpillars........
Before arriving at Old Faithful Geyser Basin which we timed for the predicted eruption of Daisy Geyser. On the way we passed this beautiful pool....
And then caught a bonus eruption at the Grotto Geyser.......
Before arriving at Daisy which did not look like much before she blew!
And then she blew!  75 feet into the air!  Cool!

After watching Daisy we caught Riverside Geyser erupting!!  What a great morning!  We had no idea we see these others erupt!

Here is another unnamed pool on the edge of Old Faithful....
Three different dragonflies just happened to pose for me........

This is a pic I already put on the post from a few days ago.  This is Grand Prismatic Pool in Midway Basin.  As cool as it looks from the ground, I decided I had to risk life and limb today and climb a steep hillside with lots of deadfall on it for a view down on this pool.......

As you can see, it was well worth the climb!  Look at the size and colors. Note the people on the board walks!......
What a fantastic end to our stay at Yellowstone NP!

  1. Okay, you have convinced me...Yellowstone must go on the list! I can only imagine all the photos you must have to go through each and every day!

  2. It is a lot;) It is worth it though, especially if someone who sees these pics goes to check out a national park!!
